Music Therapy

IMG_1432.JPG

As defined by the American Music Therapy Association, "Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program."

Cay's approach is holistic and supports clients' abilities to explore their strengths and needs, enliven themselves through discovery and self-expression, and empower themselves to achieve new levels of wellness in cognitive, social, emotional, and physical goal areas.  Music therapy interventions may include live music-making, movement to music, singing, songwriting, improvisation, listening, and adapted instrument lessons.

Cay developed the music therapy program and served as music therapist at the STARS Early Intervention Program at the Jewish Community Center of Houston for 7 years and at The Monarch Institute for Neurologic Differences for 10 years.  She currently practices music therapy as part of her private practice, Firefly Music Studio, and as a faculty mentor at The HUB Houston.

The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music

Cay is an Advanced Trainee in The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music.  This is a music-centered approach to wellness that invites clients to explore their inner world, gain insight into their relationships with themselves and others, express themselves creatively, and integrate their experiences into daily life.

― Plato

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."
