As defined by the American Music Therapy Association, "Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program."
Cay's approach is holistic and supports clients' abilities to explore their strengths and needs, enliven themselves through discovery and self-expression, and empower themselves to achieve new levels of wellness in cognitive, social, emotional, and physical goal areas. Music therapy interventions may include live music-making, movement to music, singing, songwriting, improvisation, listening, adapted instrument lessons, and much more.
Cay developed the music therapy program and served as music therapist at the STARS Early Intervention Program at the Jewish Community Center of Houston for 7 years and at The Monarch Institute for Neurologic Differences for 10 years. She currently practices music therapy at Children's TheraPath in Bellaire and as a faculty mentor at The HUB Houston.
